On September 5 and 6, 2018, the third year of the Police Riot Units Championship with international participation was held, the main organizer was the Regional Directorate of the Police of the Ústí nad Labem Region together with the Directorate of the Police Service of the Police Presidium of the Czech Republic.
GINA Software is, thanks to its collaboration with security services, a long-term partner of the event. As in the previous years, GINA took care of the official timing of the event, showing the position of the teams on the track, video streaming from individual disciplines to the VIP hall at the exhibition grounds and creating the final video of the Championship.
The opening ceremony at the exhibition grounds of the Czech Garden in Litoměřice was honored by the visit of Minister of the Interior, Jan Hamáček, together with the police president Major General Tomáš Tuhý. Over the prestigious competition took over the patronage of the Governor of the Ústí nad Labem Region Oldřich Bubeníček and the Mayor of Litoměřice Ladislav Chlupáč, who also personally greeted all participants in the opening of the championship.
Eight teams participated in the Championship. Along with four Czech police teams, police officers from Poland, Bavaria, Slovakia and Saxony competed. After the opening prologue on the slalom canal in Roudnice nad Labem, which was on the agenda of the first day of races, eight teams had to cope with more than a 20-kilometer mileage in the shortest possible time and at the same time to perform tasks associated with high physical effort, field orientation, first aid, person search, activities on the water surface and a whole range of special tasks identical to those of police officers in Riot Units.
A thrilling and very challenging competition was completed by all eight teams, but only one team could raise the winning cup over their heads and enjoy their triumph. An absolute winner was the team of the host region, a team of Riot Units of the Regional Police Directorate of the Ústí nad Labem Region. The silver medals were handed over by the head of the race, col. Jaromír Kníže and the Technical Director of Race col. Martin Hrinko to colleagues from Katowice, Poland. Bronze medals were handed over to a team of Riot Units of the Regional Police Directorate of the South Moravian Region.
"Special police officers must be physically fit, psychologically resilient and needs team spirit, so the championship has been built on disciplines examining in particular these characteristics. All the police officers proved to the public that they meet these characteristics and I am proud of them!" stated the Director of the Police Service of the Police Presidium of the Czech Republic col. Martin Hrinko.
"Let me thank everyone for their excellent commitment, you are all the winners. I was honored to organize this championship for you." said the director of the Regional Police Directorate of the Ústí nad Labem Region col. Jaromír Kníže and then he officially closed the 3rd year of the Police Riot Units Championship with International Participation 2018.
