The awards were presented under the auspices of the Social Responsibility Association on Thursday, May 30, 2019, at a gala evening at the Czernin Palace in Prague at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The SDGs Awards are based on a global commitment to the UN's Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). A Joint Plan for a better world, to which all UN member states, including the Czech Republic, have committed themselves. This year's third award was in the spirit of exceptional ideas with a unique impact on different areas that change the world for the better. The winner of a total of 213 submitted projects was selected by a professional jury. In addition, 3 782 votes in the public voting decided on the best in the Business and Public Spheres categories.

“The jury has a harder job each year with a selection of the best. Not only does this mean that sustainability in the Czech Republic has slowly shifted from the "unknown" or "only for positive PR" to a completely new dimension that perceives the world in a much broader context and brings with it specific thoughtful activities with a real impact on society," Lucie Mádlová, founder and director of the Association of Social Responsibility, which organizes the SDGs Awards.

The GINA System project was awarded to the absolute winner of 2019. GINA Software's mapping technology helps connect humanitarians, volunteers, and other involved stakeholders in high risk countries or disaster areas.

“SDGs have an important place in our foreign policy, which is traditionally based on the values of humanism, democracy and human rights. The goals of sustainable development are the image of the world we are aiming for,” said Minister of Foreign Affairs, Tomáš Petříček, whose department is a partner of the SDGs 2019, as well as the Ministry for Regional Development of the Czech Republic, the Ministry of the Environment of the Czech Republic and the Czech Development Agency. Business partner is Unilever. Media partners are Forbes Česko and ČTK - České noviny.

Sustainable trophies for the winners were made by Conscious & Craft. Together with the international library of innovative materials matériO Prague, they chose seven materials for the future. Thus, individual trophies were made, for example, from rice husk building material, recycled textile, or experimental egg shell raw materials. At the same time, the traditional SDGs-shaped concrete medals, which they once again took care of in Gravelli, completed trophies.

The SDGs 2019 Awards Gala, which was held in the spirit of a sustainable event, was hosted by moderator, actor and SDG ambassador Lukáš Hejlík. In the course of the evening, Tomáš Kačo, a pianist and composer who made himself self-taught among the best jazz students at the prestigious Berklee College in Boston and sold out Carnegie Hall in New York, played durata from his album My Home.
